When Harrisonburg City Public Schools set their sights on designing and building two separate schools within one consolidated building, they were in need a mechanical systems partner. They selected Riddleberger Brothers, Inc., a Comfort Systems USA company. The CSUSA team:
Worked with a team approach, assisting with overall design and construction
Helped save the owner more than $20 sq. ft. on building construction costs
Completed the job on schedule, allowing for an extended owner move-in
This project was a Public Private Education Act (PPEA) project for the design and construction of a 215,250 sq. ft. facility. The combined school is designed for a core capacity of 1,500 students.
For the mechanical systems portion of this $6,170,893 project, the Riddleberger Brother's team installed a central plant with heating and chilled water distribution, centrifugal water cooled chillers, hot water boilers, primary/secondary base mounted pumps, central station air handling units feeding primary air to terminal air devices and direct digital controls.
The Riddleberger Brother's team proved they were the ideal mechanical partner for this construction team. Working collaboratively with the other construction and design crews, they saved the owner more than $20 sq. ft. on building construction costs and were able to hold down change order costs and provide additional work at no cost to the owner. The team also completed the building on-schedule, allowing for an extended owner move-in.
