The Nemours Foundation was renovating the former private residence of Alfred I. DuPont, its first significant renovation since the building was erected 100 years ago. Dupont was one of the country's premier industrialists of the last century. The Nemours Foundation selected Delcard Associates, a Comfort Systems USA company, as their plumbing and HVAC renovation partner. The CSUSA team:
Made every effort to maintain the building's original look and craftsmanship
Coordinated with all trades and teams to integrate work with minimal disruption
Met owner's objectives while maintaining original budget
Originally constructed in 1910, Nemours Mansion is one of the grandest buildings ever constructed in Delaware and includes the largest formal French garden in North America.
Delcard Associates performed plumbing and HVAC renovation/restoration of the 47,000 sq. foot mansion through a $1,187,000 contract. Work included the installation of a new chiller, 13 new air handling units, two air cooled condensing units, three hot water unit heaters, seven electric heaters, fin-tubed radiation, 30 variable air volume boxes, eight humidifiers, five new pumps, new exhaust fans, louvers, air devices and plumbing fixtures. The work also included the replacement of approximately 20,000 pounds of sheet metal ductwork.
Every effort was made to maintain the original look and craftsmanship of the buildings, which required daily coordination between trades, the owner, and the design team. The project was done in conjunction with the garden renovations, and the construction of a new visitor's center.
