The Wild Center/Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks in Tupper Lake, NY was nearing completion when the owners decided they wanted the museum to be "green" because of its natural history and Adirondack location. Already working with Comfort Systems USA - Syracuse, the owners asked to modify the HVAC systems to LEED® standards. The CSUSA team:
Helped create a productive, healthy indoor environment for the museum
Did their part so that the building achieved LEED Silver certification
Later contracted with the museum to put on a garage addition with solar panels
The museum became the first LEED certified museum in the State of New York. Larger than the state of Massachusetts, the park is unique in its bio-diverse ecological composition, epic natural events, glacial formations, and as a sociopolitical model that showcases how humans and nature can coexist.
Comfort Systems USA - Syracuse was originally awarded a $1,950,000 contract to be The Wild Center's HVAC, sheet metal and insulation installation partner. When they received the order to make the building more "green," CSUSA modified the HVAC systems with air monitoring points and duct changes.
The Wild Center was so pleased with Comfort Systems USA - Syracuse's work that they later contracted with them for a garage addition to the museum with solar panels and a life support system for the fish and turtle ponds.
