Through the bidding process, different HVAC equipment than was specified provided incompatible integration between equipment and controls. The most pressing issue was the application of an air-to-air energy recovery ventilation unit (ERV) and a package roof top unit. The units were ducted together but the package controls system operated with a different sequence of operations that created a high negative pressure in the office space.
Working with the design engineer and controls contractor, Comfort Systems USA Ohio was able to develop a better integrated control sequence for the two (2) units, which provided a better working environment with lower energy costs. The new integrated sequence also used demand ventilation control strategies for all conference rooms in the building.
